TERRIBLE!
I hated it. My website came out looking horrible. (Joomla! is really good though)

Good but not what I am looking for.
I think it is a great script for beginners. I find it extremely easy to use. Pretty much wysiwyg. It's really too easy to use. I think as far as template/theme wise there could be more to it. Features could be touched up. Maybe add forums? Not forums like phpbb is in php-nuke but something more simple or basic. Just plain boards that fit in the layout easily just for people can communicate over the website. Other optional features would be neat also. To sum it up, it really depends on what type of site you plan on running. It may fit what you want and/or need or it may not.

What every CMS should be and some times even more
Anyone that thinks that Mambo is not for this or that is just plain wrong. You don't need to know any programming to be able to modify the layout in a well build template, including default ones.

If you are not super lazy you can convert any site, no matter what it looks like to this CMS. I have done dozens of sites with Mambo since 2004 and I probably did not spend more than a week learning everything that there is to learn about Mambo to run a solid low to medium traffic site(the limitations are not really in the CMS but on the hardware that most people install it).

I would recommend it any day of the week to the average Joe. Developers have a feast with it too.
