The Best Wiki Software Out there
The MediaWiki is one of the best designed software programs out there. If you don't get everything that you need in the basic package, there are a slew of extensions that you can add on to get the functionality that you are looking for. The current release if 1.15, but 1.16 has a ton of new usability features built right in. I can't wait for its release.
WOW! So easy to install!
I had this up and running in less than 10 minutes... Copy and paste files, take browser to install page, voila, done. I'm just getting into it but so far its been really easy to work with
Too complicated for private usage
Creating a private wiki (for a company's intranet) is not straight forward at all. Tried mediawiki, pmwiki, and decided to stick with Wordpress, which keeps a log of changes just as good or better than any wiki, only prettier.
Very good wiki tool
...it misses only 2 things, for me: a) an automatic detection of new added keywords, i.e, links must be explicit and manually created; b) an easier editor. Of course, you can tie to an external editor, in Linux env. In Windows, I still must learn how to do.
did not meet my requirements
Not for the inexperienced
