Difficult to learn and to use. Many bugs
Moodle is very difficult to learn and to use. The documentation is incomplete and often inaccurate. Automated back-ups routinely fail. The e-mail feature malfunctions often. Unless you can afford a full-time administrator, you should probably avoid Moodle.

SSL Login Enable in Administration cause the Login Page to stall on Load
This application UI is easy to modify with exception of Secure Login setting which can be enabled during Admin setup. This has caused me to reinstall and the recreate Theme files and application settings.

It's okay, but....
For a free open source program it does what it says it will do. It's easy to install and it's relatively easy to set up. Not everything is immediately intuitive, but it's not that difficult to figure it out especially if you are familiar with PHP and CSS. It's easy to use for online classes once it is set up. That said, it is limited in appearance (someone else wondered when it would be updated with better templates - the current ones look like it was developed with the old Netscape Composer) On shared hosting platforms it is also a little slow, so just be aware especially if you're setting up a lot of classes or intend to have a few people online at the same time...

We use this in class...
We use this in a class, nothing against it but, its pretty boring for the kids. Needs a new fresh look, and some more custom interactivity. Maybe we can see this in a future update?
