A Very Logical CMS
What I like about Silverstripe is the work flow it is not the easiest CMS ever to get started with if you are not familiar with programming. but it is a well thought out model to build web applications on. In our case we have many users updating content and being able to add specific fields etc. is very handy so it the SEO friendliness of SilverStripe
Ecommerce does not work and buggy
Unfortunately SilverStripe still a very buggy CMS system. E-commerce widget does not work and creates php errors.
Server side web page editor
Not all that much of a CMS, it's more of an online page editor. I found it kinda weak compared to what very inexpensive client options are out there. If you like this, go spend $130 on ezgenerator. It provides all the features this has, tons more, and it's faster to work with (dang this thing was slow!).
At first buggy, but then powerful
It took me a while to get used to SilverStripe. One of the guys at the design firm I worked at suggested it and the first site was a pain. After we worked with it for a short time we realized the potential to easily from a design standpoint create powerful flexible sites. Once you get the hang of it and spend 2-3 hours on the tutorials you realize it beats out other CMS solutions. I say that after working with WordPress, Drupal, Expression Engine, and a couple proprietary systems.
Code Programming needed, not so friendly
This is a very promising CMS, can't handle modules and widgets that well. The Blog and Forum are great though... On a simple website might rock
