Decent Forum: B-
This was a decent forum for basic, basic forum stuff. The admin interface was easy to use, and it was not confusing for our users. Recommend if no better alternative exists. B-

SPAM Magnet!
Yes, it is a magnet for SPAM. Maybe I am missing some security setting somewhere, but be prepared for some MAJOR SPAM!

Simple, Right Out of the Box
I've never implemented a forum before and reading some reviews, it is what its sad. simple. after installation, you get access to easy to learn admin panel and it just works. there are plugins available to enhance which are shown in the admin panel. just a few nitty gritty you have to manually research on to make it perfect for yourself.

Best Forum Software Around!
I have used this software for awhile, especially before hosting with GoDaddy. I also install it manually, using FTP. The only thing I see bad is occasionally their is an unwanted user, or someone causing issue, such as spamming. I just locked out guests from using my forum, very simple! I am currently using SMF 2.0 RC3, so I would suggest it to anyone, especially if you think 1.1.11 is insecure.

This is a BIG THUMBS UP
I see a lot of people complaining about the spam on the forum. That's what happens if you don't put the appropriate security measures in place aka. plugins on your website like Captcha and things of that nature. I'm definitely not a computer programmer nor do I have any affiliation with Simple Machines but I was more than satisfied once I figured out how to keep the spammers out. The community is massive and you can find just about any information you need in their forums to help you fix your spam problem and any others if you happen to have them. It's really simple and I'm amazed that people complain about it. I never ran a forum at all before and figured it out. It's called making an effort.
